The Investment Adviser Preliminary Audit Questionnaire (PAQ) is typically used when preparing for an annual or periodic investment adviser internal compliance inspection. The PAQ is designed to allow the reviewer to preliminarily assess a firm’s level of compliance based on the firm’s response to a series of compliance related questions. The PAQ also allows the reviewer to test and verify a firm’s responses against its actual processes to properly assess a firm’s level of compliance and gain a better understanding of the firm’s overall compliance program.
